Welcome to the Malawi Birmingham Partnership
Introduction

The Malawi Partnership has developed a relationship between the Anglican Church in Malawi and the Diocese of Birmingham for over 42 years. During this time the relationship has evolved in the areas of mission and ministry. Birmingham assists Malawi in the funding of its clergy and diocesan administrative costs. Visits both ways have nurtured personal relationships and life changing experiences which have enriched the nature of the partnership.

This website provides information about the Partnership. Please visit the Links page for some websites which give some useful information. Introduction to Malawi

One of Africa's smallest countries, Malawi is a hidden treasure and is without doubt the Warm Heart of Africa. For over 100 years, this peaceful country has not known the extreme of war or civil strife that have engulfed many other African countries.

However, Malawi still has among the lowest per capita income in Africa. Development prospects are threatened by HIV and AIDS, steeply declining capacity in government, weak economic and financial management, corruption and a poor operating environment for the private sector.
